Learn amazing water-based Japanese woodblock printing in this 3-day workshop where students create a multicolor woodblock print.
We begin with a short introduction of Japanese woodblock printing history. Mokuhanga is a hands-on process using wood, watercolors, brushes, and a baren to print on Japanese washi paper. Carol will teach various printing and carving techniques, including kento registration of color blocks to the key block. We use natural, non-toxic materials, safe for the artist and the environment. This process requires a small space and no press. Students will work at their own pace, completing the workshop with an edition of prints and carved woodblocks.
This workshop is great for printmakers, wood carvers, painters, illustrators, and craftmakers of every experience level. Most materials provided by instructor.
